Additional Inclusion Criteria
Stages referring entities are eligible to make referrals:
For less serious offences:
ACT Policing - After a young person has been cautioned or apprehended; But before a referral to prosecution
DPP - After a referral to prosecution; But before a second mention hearing
Courts - After a second mention hearing; But before the end of a case management hearing; Until a plea or finding of guilt
For less or serious offences:
Courts - Upon a plea or finding of guilt; Whether or not a conviction or sentence recorded; But before the end of the proceeding
CYPS, RJU & Victim Support ACT - After a Court has sentenced a young person; But before the sentence expires
Eligibility criteria
Is it eligible to be referred at this time? See above for stages referring entities are eligible to make referrals
Is it an eligible offence? Any ACT offence; Excludes Commonwealth offences
Is the person responsible for the offence eligible? Was at least 10 years old at the time of offence; Accepts responsibility for having some involvement; Agrees to be referred
Is there an eligible person harmed by the offence? An offence must involve an identifiable victim
