Barnardos Child, Youth and Family Support Program
Providing customised support services to vulnerable children, youth and families in need of assistance across the ACT
Barnardos Child, Youth and Family Support Program provides case managed support to children, youth and families who are experiencing difficulties. The support is provided in their homes or at a place that is convenient for them - outreach.
Case managed support means we will work with the young person / family to identify what assistance they need, plan how this assistance would happen and follow up to ensure the assistance is helping. This may mean involving other organisations that offer support in particular areas and working together to achieve the best possible outcome.
Difficulties that young people, families and children may experience include...
· Housing issues
· Worries with looking after their children
· Difficulties with managing the home
· Money troubles
· Relationship troubles and family breakdown
· Drug and alcohol issues
· Concerns with health and wellbeing
· Social Isolation
Case workers will assist the child, young person and/or family with accessing services that can help to facilitate and sustain independent living.
How do we do this?
· Regular home visiting
· Support and guidance with parenting concerns
· Advocacy
· Community connections
· Information / Referrals
· Positive Mentoring
