SYMHO, which stands for Specialist Youth Mental Health Outreach, provides care to young people aged 14-25 who are experiencing psychosis or at ultra-high risk of developing it. It operates 7 days a week and is available by contacting the SYMHO Intake Officer on 02 5124 3133.
Early treatment of psychosis is important as it significantly improves outcomes.
Symptoms of psychosis can include:
- abnormal thoughts or beliefs (delusions) about what is happening;
- seeing things that are not there (hallucinations);
- hearing voices inside their heads or outside in the environment which no one else can hear;
- not being able to think clearly or concentrate, having difficulty understanding what is happening around them.
If you or someone you know has any of these symptoms and are aged 14-25, contact SYMHO on 02 5124 3133.
