YWCA Canberra Youth Programs is an inclusive youth service supporting young people aged 10 – 25 who live, work, and play in Tuggeranong, Canberra. They deliver a range of services to engage young people in education, training, social-emotional development, and connection to community.
Services
Case Work
YWCA Canberra Youth Programs offers short term case work for young people aged 10-25 from the Tuggeranong area. The Youth team can help support young people in many areas of their lives.
A-Z
A-Z is a social support group for gender and sexuality diverse young people and allies between the ages of 12 – 25. The program offers an opportunity for young people to learn about and participate in relevant upcoming events, to hear from guest speakers and to connect with new and existing friends.
LGBTQIA+ & Allies Prom
The YWCA Canberra Youth Engagement Team hosts an LGBTQIA + Allies Prom each for young people aged 12 - 25 each year. The LGBTQIA+ & Allies Prom is an opportunity for young people to experience a formal style event and express their identity in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. This event is strictly drug and alcohol free.
Y-Aspire
Y-Aspire is a free eight week, young women’s leadership program for girls, including female-identifying and non-binary students, in Years 7 and 8. Through a series of two hour workshops, combining knowledge-based and interactive activities, the participants are provided with the opportunity to identify and build on existing skills, explore topics such as identity, resilience, body confidence, self-care, respectful relationships, and leadership order to achieve their potential at school and beyond.
Clubhouse
The YWCA Canberra Clubhouse is a free, out of school drop-in learning space for young people, aged 10 – 18 in the Tuggeranong region providing mentoring and support to grow their interest, skills and knowledge in science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, and music.
Lanyon Youth Centre Drop In
The Youth Centre is open to all young people between the ages of 10-25. Available in this space is the opportunity to chat with youth workers, use computers with free internet, play X-box or watch a movie, play a game of pool, or just hang out with friends.
School Holiday Program
YWCA Canberra Youth Programs offers a free school holiday program each school break to young people aged 10 – 25 in the Tuggeranong region. Activities include a mixture of exciting excursions in Canberra, and interesting drop-in activities.
Outreach
YWCA Canberra Youth Programs connects with young people organically in the community to engage with socially and to support connections to other community services.
