YWCA Canberra cares for more than 2000 children each week through our children’s services. Our philosophy reflects the principles that underpin the Early Years Learning Framework that states:
“From before birth children are connected to family, community, culture and place. Their earliest development and learning takes place through these relationships, particularly within families, who are children’s first and most influential educators. As children participate in everyday life, they develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world.”
We develop and create learning environments that reflect the children and families we work with, the community we live in and the values of our organisation.
Our program Directors work collaboratively with our community services team to identify and refer children and families that require additional support. This is part of our commitment to ensuring all children and families are supported to participate fully in our community.
Our aim is to ensure high quality, evidence-based programs are provided to support children, families and educators through our inclusive service delivery. The principles and practices of programs are designed to promote children’s holistic development.
